Clystre contributed 'In nokae misteris' to Trevlad's most recent compilation
Following Trevor’s announcement for this latest 25-track compilation, I hooked up my ROAR setup (Buchla Easel, Chase Bliss effects, plus a few extra gadgets) and got completely absorbed in The Mystery of the Night - a trippy nocturnal tale told in a language invented by AI.
Please check it out, and if you enjoy it, consider leaving a few bucks to support Trevor’s tireless efforts to spread the word - and the sound - of adventurous and inspiring artists.
MEno.006 by Clystre out on MEno Label, a Moniker Eggplant sublabel
MEno.006 by Clystre delivers: 9 generative modular-ambient tracks that invite close listening and surprise with their organic character. Like a group of creatures, these tracks meander and flow, moving together toward sonic experimentation.
ROAR – relentlessly overloaded ambient ruminations – is the result of a series of improvised live sessions using the Buchla Music Easel and three experimental Chase Bliss pedals.
No multitracking, no overdubs – just a barely edited stereo mix. Balancing raw immediacy with gentle haze, ROAR explores the Easel’s sonic depth: from toy piano to low-register cello, from palm-muted kalimba-like tones to wooden percussive pulses. Loops fold into their own echoes, simple melodies melt into textured layers.
Inspired by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Todd Barton, and Charles Cohen, Clystre pushes the creative potential of a deliberately minimal setup – intuitive, focused, and immersive.
Debut album by all-coast modular synthesist, electronic music producer, and sound designer Carsten Rochow alias Clystre.
'Arpichelago' is reminiscent of Kraut, early synth pop, psychedelic and electronica. Carefully crafted synth voices, rhythms and textures form this joyous yet compelling sonic menu. Released on Moniker Eggplant (M+E018) on LP and digital. Includes 'Eggplant Kraut Salad' recipe.
